About Sandra

Dr. Sandra K. Kauanui is Director of The Institute for Entrepreneurship and a Professor of Entrepreneurship and Management. She received her Ph.D. from The George Washington University and has an MBA from William & Mary University. Dr. Kauanui has over 30 years professional experience in the field as an entrepreneur, educator, researcher, and consultant. Before becoming an academic, Dr. Kauanui started and ran her own successful business for twenty years. The business, which employed up to forty employees, provided financial, tax and accounting services to entrepreneurial firms.

Dr. Kauanui is an active researcher, keynote speaker and workshop presenter and has authored and co-authored over eighty publications in her academic career. Her primary areas of teaching, consulting, research and specialization are entrepreneurship, negotiation, spirituality at work, leadership, organizational behavior and financial/ strategic management. She has been an invited guest speaker in the US, Canada, Europe, South Africa and Romania. Dr. Kauanui has received numerous awards for her contribution to the field of Entrepreneurship, including her acceptance into the Wilford L. White Fellows, which recognizes individuals who have made a major contribution to Entrepreneurship worldwide.

Prior to Dr. Kauanui’s current appointment at FGCU in 2007, she was a tenured Associate Professor at the College of Business at California State Polytechnic University for eight years. When leaving the University in 2007, she was awarded Professor Emeritus. Dr. Kauanui is currently serving on the editorial board of the Journal of Management, Spirituality and Religion and the International Association for Management, Spirituality and Religion. She has also served as an officer and board member for the International Council for Small Business, a fifty year old organization whose mission is to serve Small and Medium Enterprises worldwide, eventually becoming the second woman to serve as president of the organization. During her presidency, she had the opportunity to meet and discuss issues surrounding Entrepreneurship with numerous researchers, as well as public officials, including several presidents from around the world.

About Eric

Eric Arseneau is passionate about teaching others the value of an entrepreneurial mindset. He serves as the Assistant Director of the Institute for Entrepreneurship at FGCU. This role includes responsibilities such as: developing and leading new programs created by the Institute, interacting with the Institute's many stakeholders, and actively working with students on startup companies.

Dr. Arseneau has presented his research at numerous academic conferences and is an active member of the Academy of Management. His research is focused on topics at the intersection of entrepreneurship and management, such as how entrepreneurs decide what, when, and how to delegate work to others.

His teaching experience includes the following courses: Family Business, Introduction to Entrepreneurship, and Entrepreneurship and Creativity.

About Erica

Erica Swafford earned her bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Entrepreneurship Studies from Florida Gulf Coast University in December 2019. She has since returned to her alma mater and applied her comprehensive set of skills to her professional, higher education roles.

About Mark

Mark Bole earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas-Austin and MBA from the University of Tennessee. He spent 25 years in various financial management positions at large multinational corporations before launching his own businesses in Europe and the United States. He has raised and managed over $5 billion in debt and equity for startups to multinational corporations.  He also teaches Digital Technologies, Entrepreneurship and Creativity, New Venture Launch and New Venture Funding.

About Art

Art DeMonte earned his MBA from Columbia University. He was a founding member of three successful start-up companies; two founder-financed and the third gained $20 million in venture capital investment. He is an experienced new venture coach advising both first-time and serial entrepreneurs throughout the start-up process. Art has instructed university-level entrepreneurship courses for the past 12 years. He applies his additional experience at large corporations in business & product development, sales & marketing, and mergers & acquisitions roles to guide start-ups.

About Marty

Martin Lamb has 25+ years senior level global investment experience and began angel investing in the late 1990’s, at which time also served as a venture capital consultant.  He has founded or co- founded several businesses, including a retail development company in China and a New York-based real estate investment initiative to address environmentally contaminated properties.  He is the founder and managing partner of his own private investment company, Clearlake Management, LLC, and serves as adjunct faculty at FGCU teaching venture finance.  In his career, he has worked and lived in London, New York, Los Angeles, Shanghai, Singapore and Sydney, and has a certificate of Mandarin proficiency from the Chinese government.  He holds an AB (honors) in Economics from Occidental College and an MBA (honors) from UCLA.

About Sven

Sven Hermann is a founder of many failed and some successful startups and believes that failure should be embraced and expected in one's entrepreneurial career. Over the years, he has been involved in different startup ecosystems starting from NYC and NJ through Taos, New Mexico to SWFL and Tampa. Organizing tech meetup events, accelerator programs, and other startup events are some of the initiatives he has lead and participated in regularly. Sven also mentors and advises founders and their startups 1:1. In addition to his passion for helping entrepreneurs and building startup communities, Sven has a deep background in Engineering; while his origins and degree are in Electrical Engineering, Sven has spent the majority of his professional life in Software Engineering. His sweet spot in startup ventures is at the intersection of CTO & CEO. His engineering skills paired with his startup and business expertise allow him to find technical solutions for business opportunities, as well as developing business cases and finding product-market-fit for existing technologies.

About Kelly

Kelly Werder has been with FGCU since 2013, first as a visiting instructor then full time, moving to the School of Entrepreneurship in 2019.  She has both a Juris Doctor from Suffolk University Law School and a Master’s in Business Administration from the Sawyer School of Management at Suffolk.  Kelly spent six years at Thomson & Thomson, the world leader in Trademark research.  She has also started a few businesses, primarily in or related to the wedding industry and hospitality.

About Paul

Paul Evans earned both his B.A. in Business Administration and M.S. in Entrepreneurship from the University of Florida (Go Gators!). After graduation, he had the opportunity to work at numerous startups and established companies, founded a couple of his own companies, and transitioned into teaching. Paul serves on the board for Taste of Immokalee and is the Chair of the Strategic Planning Committee. He has worked with companies from inception to growth stages in the food services industry, trade skills industries, augmented & virtual reality spaces, and many others.
